Our 21st day was focused on exploring Haines surrounding by foot. The day started with a 5K run along the beautiful shoreline with mountain views.
After breakfast, we had to hike Mount Riley – a beautiful 5 Miles trail initially wanding in a lovely forest- before it climbs 1500 feet to spectacular views of 360 degrees of waterways and mountains. On the way up, we decided to explore the nearby Lily lake – a lovely 1Mile roundtrip detour to a beautiful lake in the middle.
We headed to Moose Meadow trail in the afternoon, armed with bear spray. The course’s first mile was similar to the first mile of the Mount Reily trail. After one mile, the forest finishes – and we found ourselves on the beach looking at two magnificent glaciers. Unfortunately, the visibility was pretty limited due to smoke
that entered the valley from some distant wildfires. which was a pity. But we will be back.

on the way to the camp, we stopped at Dalto City which is now the ground of the local fairground. Walt Disney filmed the Jack London Gold Rush classic “White Fang” entirely in the Chilkat Valley and the scenery was left behind to the joy of the locals.

The day ended with a zip of terrific cocktails at the Port Chilkoot Distillery- a cocktail bar that attracts many locals of all age groups. It is a cool place.
