Given the heat wave – the only time to hike is early morning. We did not get lazy, and right before 0800am, we were already hiking up to the vista point I drove into yesterday. I knew I had zero chance of convincing Ruti to drive 6Km on a 4×4 dirt road- so we found our solution – we hiked the mountain over the super challenging mountain biking trails. It was interesting to see how technically challenging these intermediate and expert routes were, and it made for a great challenging climb hike, with a huge payoff at the end. We climbed up the moderate all-in trail and went down the steep Ragged trail. Hiking the Bike lane was fun!
We were heading to Mount Robson provincial park for our weekend camping. Mount Robson is the tallest peak in the Canadian Rockies. As we were driving, we saw a parking pull-out with no sign and multiple cars parking there. We stopped to explore what are we missing and were told there was a hidden trail going up to the Lost Little lake – where you can swim or fish. We were mostly about hiking – so we continued to stretch our legs walking up.
2 Km later – we stopped at the amazing Rearguard falls. The roaring huge Fraser river was falling there, creating scary rapids (perfectly utilized by the rafting tours). Coming from the desert of Israel, we are always humbled to see sooooooooo much water.
We have arrived early enough to beat the heat in Mount Robson provincial park The mountain is amazingly beautiful, and the camp is spacious. It was a great invite for the debut of our new hammock, to relax in the shade after a great day, and to prepare for a festive dinner.
