Today we completed the Alaska HWY. This historical miracle served us well on this road trip (despite the never-ending constructions). The US decided to build the Alaska HWY to create a ground connection to the Alaska territories shortly after the Japanese conducted their attack on Pearl Harbor. It took the US nine months (unbelievable) to pave this route in the Canadian wilderness and set more than 1600 miles of road. The road is still going the same way today (with many improvements). Extraordinary effort conducted by 11,000 soldiers. We took the inevitable pictures in Dawson Creek (not to be confused with Dawson City) of Mile zero of the HWY, got our HWY completion certificate from the tourist information office, and loaded some great meat at the local butcher shop.

In a matter of a few days, the weather turned from winter to blazing summer, and the temperature was again at 97F. We traveled via the surprising town of Chetwynd – which is blanketed with more than 120 wood-curved magnificent sculptures.
We also stopped at the Bijoux Falls for quick refreshment on the road and arrived early at Whisker Point provincial park to jump into the cool water of this beautiful lake. The Mosquitos were taking a break, and we enjoyed a good classic summertime near and in the water. We loved that summer day.
