Day 35: The Denali (State Park) Conspiracy.

Campground:K’esugi Ken campground, Denali State Park, Trapper Creek, AK 99683
Total Distance:5520 Miles.
Traveled Today:0 Miles.
Key Highlights:Curry Ridge trail.

Our 2nd attempt to see Denali (aka Mt. McKinely ) was as unsuccessful as the first one last night. We hiked the very rewarding trail to Curry Ridge Peak straight from our campground. It’s an excellent trail, overlooking the Nenana River below, and closer mountains in the foggy weather added great scenery to the hike. As we hiked to the top – we were touching the clouds (from the inside). The highlight of the trial should have been some incredible views of the Denali ridge. There was no evidence for any of that beauty we saw in pictures. We did not even see a slope of a mountain. It was the first day since day 10 of our trip – that we did not even see a shade of snow. We are starting to speculate they have been photoshopped. Did anyone ever see these mountains? We could not even see their slopes. It felt like the McKinley==Denali== #Fakenews.

The weather got more wet and rainy as the day progressed – and we spent the 2nd part of the day reading and resting around our campsite and feasting on one more excellent RV camp dinner. (PS the campsite is very spacious, our site had beautiful patches of purple fireweed flowers, and while there were no water or sewer hookups – it was a fully electrical site).
